Intern Program

Athena Theatre is looking for interns to complement our growing staff; several positions are available in a variety of departments. Appropriately trained students or candidates looking to gain experience in a new field, feel free to apply. The right candidate will be innovative, self-motivated, and reliable and have experience or training in Marketing, Fundraising/Development, Grant Writing, Stage Management, Dramaturgy, or Acting.

This position is based in New York City, and can be undertaken during office hours or during the volunteers’ chosen hours.

Skill Category

Marketing: Manage social media pages (Facebook, Twitter and Instagram), develop more likes and follows, establish new relationships with similar companies and artists.

Fundraising: Assist in planning fundraising events, mailings, crowd funding, annual giving and in-kind donations. Literary Associate: Read new plays, seek emerging playwrights, research alternative places where playwrights may be found and assist in planning the monthly play reading series.

Grant Writer Assistant: Research grants, which fall in line with our mission, budget and goals; assist in editing applications and attending grant-writing workshops when possible.

Actor Intern: Shadow an actor in the rehearsal process during a main stage production, assist with running lines and standing in for an actor during tech.

Stage Manager Intern: Assist the stage manager in scheduling, setting up the rehearsal studio, programming cues and possibly working run crew during the run of the show.

Level of Expertise Required:
General/Student.
